Church Financial Management

The management of the financial resources of the church is a cooperative effort of the Pastor and church leaders. The Pastor is not solely responsible for the management task alone. However, the Pastor should never totally relinquish the responsibility of financial management to someone else. The Pastor should never be afraid to take the mantle of leadership in the area of church finances. In far too many instances, the Pastor allows other leaders to make ministry decisions based upon their belief that lay people run the church. But when the Pastor allows others to determine what the church can and cannot afford to do, he has ceased to be the Pastor. The Pastor is the chief overseer of the church. His office is divinely ordained by God. He is the person responsible for ensuring that the church is properly led, which includes the management of its resources.
