Think of the possibilities. Preaching exposes you to the great truths of scripture and gives you the opportunity to be shaped by what you discover even as you preach it to others. Pastoral care gives you the opportunity to see God coming alongside of people in crises and helps you believe God will care for you. Administrative tasks allow you to put faith into practice in relationships. Outreach and discipleship helps you to grow into the image of Christ even while you are introducing others to Him. All of this is something like a gourmet cook who, while busy preparing a scrumptious meal, is able to taste the food. The point is for you to view spiritual growth as an essential ingredient of your own faith and ministry.
